Ian Bladergroen sighting

I recived an update from Sammy Cyclones, a reader of this blog, about the status former Mets top prospect Ian Bladergroen, who attended a Newark Bears vs. Road Warriors game:

“I did get to see another former Cyclones favorite, Ian
Bladergroen, now playing first base for the Road Warriors, and
hitting .281, with 9 homers and 44 rbi.”

Bladergroen was thought to be a steal after being drafted in the 44th round in 2002 and posting an outstanding .347/.397/.595 line in 2004 in the Sally League. (He was considered old for the league at 21)  He developed wrist problems at the end of the year however, which carried over to his Red Sox days in 2005 and 2006, when he was traded for Doug Mientkiewicz. He last appeared in pro ball in 2006, where at 23 years old, he posted a .242/.348/.408 line for Wilmington in the Carolina League.
