I don’t consider this terrible newsworthy and the points of this blog isn’t to report stuff like this, but Scott Schafer, the Mets sixth round pick in 2006, has been arrested on suspicions of drunk driving.
Quote:
St. Lucie County deputies clocked Scott Alan Schafer, 19, of Texas, driving his Hummer 69 miles-per-hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone on Okeechobee Road at around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, an arrest report said.
Asked if he knew why he was pulled over, Schafer said he “was doing close to 80 miles per hour,” the report said.
Deputies said his speech was mumbled, his eyes bloodshot and watery and he smelled of alcohol, according to the report.
He cost himself quite a bit of a green and his agent after the Mets found out about his infamous myspace page last year. I believe he was on the extended spring training roster as recently as June, although he hasn’t played for any of the Mets affiliates in 2007.
