Philip Humber Cotinues to Fall

This news is, after all, a day old, but I felt I had to mention it. In the AAA New orleans 8-3 loss to Nashville, Philip Humber pitched 3.2 innings, allowing five earned runs, on four hits, four walks, and jsut two strikeouts.

For the most part, Humber has displayed decent command this year, so that was a bit of a surprise, but once again, his emtions took over. After allowing his first hit of the game in the fourth inning, Humber proceeded to throw 37 pitches in the inning, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks. Whether Humber was taken out because of his erraticness or the fact he’d passed his innings pitch count is debatable, although it was probably a combination of both.

I used to not be so concerned about the rumored emotional problems, which have dated back to his Rice days, until recently. It’s turned out to be an incessant problem for him, and I’m surprise he hasn’t improved.

He’ll probably be up when rosters expand, or at least when the PCL playoffs end, but considering his peripherals are worse than Adam Bosticks right now, I don’t see him making much of an impact.

Humber:

K/PA: 19.6%

BB/PA: 7.8%

Bostick:

K/PA: 21.0%

BB/PA: 8.7%
