Amid the frenzy of Live Earth day, the Cyclones managed to fabricate some excitement of their own, topping the Jamestown Jammers by the score of 8-6.
In stark contradiction to my typical fashion, some scouting reports and early inning results doesn’t exactly form the majority of my game wrap tonight. There was barely any action early on, with Cyclones pitcher Nick Carr managing to bear down several times, often using his strikeout potential as a mean of fighting through jams, striking out seven tonight. The Jammers utilized their stolen base potential in the third, stealing two times on a rare catching start for Jason Jacobs, and managed to score two runs in the third on an RBi sinlge by Bryan Peterson, as well as some sloppy defense on the Cyclones part.
After falling behind 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, Brooklyn set out some of their hottest hitters to mount a comeback. Starting with Will Vogl, who ripped a leadoff double to left field, and ended with back to back homers from Raul Reyes, who’s quitely raised his average to .233, and Jason jacobs, as well as a double by Lucas Duda. Somwhere in between, the game was dominated by walks and errors, and brooklyn ended the inning up by one run.
Will Morgan replaced the hard throwing Edgar Ramirez in the sixth, and took awhile getting loose, allowing one run on a leadoff homer by Carlos Piste. The Cyclones, however, finally pulled away in the eigth, on a solo shot by Raul Reyes, and Stephen Clyne compiled a suprisingly solid ninth, sealing the door for Brooklyn’s 14th win.
