Interesting to see Jason Jacobs behind the plate. Both he and Yasmil Bucce are struggling at this point, and in my opinion, Edgar Alfonzo probably just optioned for Bucce at DH because he needs some rest, but the former GCL all-star looks behind on pitches often, while Jacobs, who put up stellar OBP. numbers at [...]

Despite being expected to be in Spring Training this year, 20 year-old Patt Maat, a native of Australia, had several visa problems, but he’s finally on schedule, debuting for the GCL Mets yesterday, going one for four with a double.
Looks like Savannah would be the likely destination for him next year. Of course, the real [...]

Over the last month or so, the anti-saber crowd might actually be willing to call Philip Humber, “lucky.” His era. has been well over five, has allowed 51 hits over 42.1 innings, and yet he as a 5-1 record.
Yet, the actual version of luck- Voros McCracken’s theory of DIPS, now mostly used with the stat BABIP- [...]

At Mets Prospect Hub, David shared his thoughts on a visit to Binghamton, N.Y.
On Martinez:
Fernando is fast. Now sure how fast exactly, (we’ve become use to comparisions with Jose Reyes) but one of his hits was an infield base knock that he simply out legged… on a slow roller to second. [...]

NOT!
In his last outing, Matt Durkin through very well, allowing limited walks while striking out seven. He’s told reporters that his fastball velocity is back, but right now it’s hitting around 93 mph, and I believe he was more around 94-95 when he was drafted.
I wrote an article on F.U. way back when saying that [...]

A little more demotions than promotions, but it’s only fair that I touch on them all.
Mike Nickeas Demoted to St. Lucie: Let’s just say I was expecting a little more shuffling than this, but the Mets contradicted my idea and followed kiss. (Keep it simple, stupid) As I mentioned in Part I, Nickeas was a [...]
