GB Cyclones Season Preview

As we all know, the Cyclones kickoff their season tomrrow against the Staten Island Yankees, and I don’t know what’s more amazing. The season is here, or, forgot about my rants on how the Cyclones roster is screwed up, I have no idea who’s pitching for the Yankees tomorrow either.

Gotham Baseball took their perspective on the upcoming season.

The only thing left to complain about with the Cyclones roster, which was mentioned in the article, was why Ender Chavez, who’s Endy Chavez’s brother is on the roster. Now, if he starts, my best guess is the Wilpon’s would like to see him put up a worthless .380 line, but let’s just remember stockpiling veterans is a common practice in the Mets minor league system.

Now, when you have backup guys such as Mike Defieliece last year, who Mike Pelfrey often credited in his development, it’s fine, but it’s also the reason we have the Corey Coles of last year.

While I’m all for adding young guys who just never worked out, such as Oliver Perez, and guys like Miguel Negron in AAA, I think Mets fans are getting a little too use to the routine of Omar finding these diamonds in the dust. For instance, Mets fans saying that Brain Lawrence is going to make major contributions this year is a bit of a pardox, to say the least. Yes, if this was 2004, and the Mets were having a tryout camp for the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation, I might buy the thinking a little bit, but not the way the organization is structured now, with Matt Durkin in A-Ball.
