If the St. Lucie Mets six game winning streak wasn’t enough for some people, Joshua Peterson capped off today’s win with two home runs, putting the icing on the cake after Deolis Guerra’s nice performace. ( 5 innings pitched, six strikeouts, no walks, one run)
Peterson got off to a rocketing start last year at St. Lucie, amking the Mets look as though they nabbed a steal out of the draft, but after June, he looked pitiful at the plate. This year, he’s made the move to right field, which is probably part of the reason the Mets let the 24 year-old behind at St. Lucie, this year, but the guy is on fire, this month, sporting a .408 ISOP. and a .381 OBP.
The GB5 has wlays scared me, which tells you he isn’t exactly making the best of contact, but like I always say, at his age, give him a shot. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing 3B Mark Kiger get bumped up to AAA or even the big leagues at this point, (.404 OBP. at Binghamton this year) and Daniel Murphy isn’t exactly warranting a promotion any time soon, but the Mets seem adamant on keeping him in RF. There isn’t much room as of right now for Stewart or Coles at AAA, so, for now, it looks as though Peterson will be on the backburner for awhile.
